Enrichment
Here are some of the ways in which PTO fundraising is used:

Enrichment Programs:
The largest chunk of change paid out by the PTO each year is to bring outside educators and performers to the school to compliment and enhance the curriculum and the school themes of Respect, Responsibility and Regard for others (and have some fun!). This is coordinated by the Enrichment Committee.

Spending starts way before school starts, so we can book some really excellent programs, many events are already planned for this year.

In addition to school-wide assemblies, each class will experience smaller scale presentations or workshops in support of, and coordinated with, specific areas of their curriculum (and for fun!). Last year, special assemblies and other activities throughout the school included:

  • A three-day visit from Author Amy MacDonald, who spent time with each grade, and at an evening event for families
  • Visits by Plimoth Plantation, Museum of Science and Bay Colony educators (amongst others)
  • An assembly promoting Bishop core values with BMX bike rider and champion Chris Poulos
  • Modern dance program with an artist in residence

The current year will see a similar program, watch your email, and the website for details as dates are finalized.

Other spending that contributes directly to our children’s school experience:
The PTO also provides direct support for classroom materials per classroom, covers the cost of buses for a number of field trips, as organized by the classroom teachers, and is the only source of funding for the school Library, other than the Library Book Sales.
