So begins the third quarter. It is hard to believe that we are at the halfway point. I have truly enjoyed the first half of the year. Thank you for everything you have done for me the first half of the year. We have an amazing staff and amazing families.
Bring the whole family to OPAC's Spaghetti Social and Book Fair!
Its cloudy...thank Goodness there's a chance of meatballs! Indulge in comfort food, including spaghetti, meatballs, bread and salad by Chef Michael O'Keefe of The Corporate Kitchen (and OMS Parent). Relax to the sounds of a live DJ. Catch up with old friends and meet new ones. And, check out Ottoson's first book fair, open til 8:00 pm on this night in the media center.
Date: Thursday, February 4th
Time:6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (food served until 7:30)
Place:Ottoson Middle School Trattoria - and OMS media center
Enter:OMS main doors. (From Mass Ave heading toward Lexington, make a left onto Appleton Street and another left onto Acton)
Tickets:$7 each - limited availability; put the attached form and check in an envelope; return to a special box in the main office no later than Fri, 1/29!
Corrections: Last week's newsletter incorrectly quoted a price of $6. We need to ask $7 to cover costs. Any profit will fund OPAC's contribution to the media center materials drive. Also, there will not be a movie on the 4th in the media center but there will be OMS students talking about their favorite books!
Requests: A few extra hands are still needed for the day of the event. If you'd like to help out, email talya_bosch@yahoo.com and she'll put you in touch with the volunteer team of your choice.
In an effort to get more parents to be able to take part in morning coffees and opac meetings at night, the OPAC Meetings have been combined with the Principal Coffees on an alternating schedule. These monthly meetings will alternate between the 1stFriday of each month in the mornings from 8:00am – 9:30am in the OMS cafeteria and the first Thursday of each month in the evenings from 7:00pm - 8:30pm in the OMS Teacher’s Lounge.
These meetings are a forum for the "voice of the parents" at the Ottoson Middle School. At each meeting we will have an update from the Principal and OPAC, open discussion time and time to socialize one on one with adminstrators and parents. Refreshments are also served.

Our terrific Media Center is seeking new books for their collection. Reading is at the core of so much learning, and a modern collection is a key motivator.
There are several ways that you can add to the collection. 1) contribute books -- they can either be added directly to the collection, or swapped for other needed titles. 2) search our wishlist at Amazon, and make purchases from there. You can go directly to the Amazon link by clicking here. If you would like directions on how this process works, click here.
