Benefits
of personalizing your Yahoogroups
To be able to use all of the web features available in
Yahoogroups, we recommend that you obtain a Yahoo ID (if you already
don't have one), and that you personalize your Yahoogroups.
The procedures are given below.
Once you go into the trouble of personalizing your Yahoogroups,
you will be able to easily change your membership options (such as
ways of reducing the amount of e-mail), see old message, view the
calendar of group's event, and access files and photos.
When you set your browser to http://groups.yahoo.com/,
your groups will be listed on the left side. Clicking on any
of these will put you into the home page of that group. Or you
can go directly to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArlingtonMiddleSchool/

Changing or adding e-mail address
If you need to change your e-mail address or add
another e-mail address to which Ottoson High School E-group messages
are sent, please follow one of the procedures below. (You may
wish to add an address if you want to receive the message at more
than one address.)
If you have not personalized your Yahoogroups,
then changing or adding e-mail address has to be done by sending a blank
e-mail message to
ArlingtonMiddleSchool-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
from the new address (to add this address
to the membership list), and sending a blank e-mail message to
ArlingtonMiddleSchool-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
from the old address (to remove this address
from the membership list).
If you have personalized your Yahoogroups, then the process of
changing or adding e-mail address has three steps.
First, log in to Ottoson High School E-group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArlingtonMiddleSchool/
Then click on My Groups, to go into
your main Yahoogroups page. You may need your password to get
in. Click on Account Info (top right corner). Now
you will almost surely need your password. Click on the Edit
button next to Member Information, then enter your new e-mail
address into one (usually the first) Alternate E-Mail
boxes. Click on the radial button next to this box to select it as your
Primary Alternate Address. (In Yahoo terminology, all e-mail addresses
that are not from Yahoo itself are considered alternate.). Click the
Finished button to save the changes.
The second step is to wait for e-mail from Yahoo that will verify your new
e-mail address. You will get a verification code. If everything goes
normally, the e-mail message will contain an URL with the verification code
embedded, so all you need to do is to click on that URL.
The third, last step is to go back to Yahoogroups, to your main page (My
Groups), and change e-mail for
each of your groups, including WaldorfHighSchool E-group. To do this,
select each of your groups in turn. For each group, click on Edit My Membership
and select the appropriate e-mail address. Don' forget to click on Save
Changes.

Want to
protect you e-mail address?
If you are concerned about protecting your e-mail
address, here are things you should know:
-
Someone who is not a member of this e-group,
cannot get to your e-mail address.
-
Members of the e-group can at most see partial
address in Membership list.
-
If you send a message to the e-group, all
members will see your e-mail address.
-
Yahoogroups is not considered 100% safe, so it
is possible that someone may gain access and retrieve your
e-mail address.
-
Many people have had their addresses on many
Yahoogroups for many years without any problems.
If you desire more protection, the best solution is
to create a new address specifically for e-groups. Most
Internet providers allow multiple e-mail addresses and your e-mail
application at home can be set up to receive messages from all these
addresses. One minor drawback is that if you were to use the
reply feature to send a message to the e-group, and you were not
careful in selecting the correct FROM address, your message will be
sent from a wrong address and ignored (however, it is not advisable
to ever use the reply feature when sending message to the e-group).
If you cannot get another e-mail address at home,
you can get one at Yahoo.com (or another equivalent service).
It's free, but you will have to go onto Yahoo web page to retrieve
your e-mail.
