Introduction

The mission of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is to equip students with critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to succeed in their professional, personal and family lives. Courses in this department provide comprehensive and integrative sources of knowledge that focus on family, individual, and community wellbeing. Classroom activities provide a wide range of opportunities that assist students in developing interpersonal, decision-making, goal setting, and time management skills.

The FACS programs provide opportunities for students to explore, develop and practice skills that prepare them for 21st century careers in the area of Early Childhood Education and Care, Foods and Hospitality professions, Fashion and Interior Design, among others.

All courses in this department address Massachusetts Health Frameworks and National Family and Consumer Science Standards.
