Teaching & Learning: Curriculum - Technology

Introduction

Technology integration is the cornerstone of the district's effort to ensure all students achieve technology literacy. Technology integration specialists provide instruction and support to both students and teachers. This effort is aligned with the district's K-12 technology benchmark standards.

Application of these new technology standards in the elementary schools will ensure that there will be consistency in skill development across elementary schools and a minimum technology competency level for students when they reach middle school.

Benchmarks for grades 6-12 culminate in a technology graduation requirement for all high school students, beginning with the class of 2008.

Through the use of various technologies, teachers are able to facilitate individual support and remediation, as well as enhance learning for all students through the use of technology.

The K-12 Benchmarks were adapted from the Massachusetts Department of Education Frameworks.
