Administration: Superintendent's Welcome
Dear Arlington Families,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Arlington Public Schools, where our dedicated and talented staff is committed to ensuring an equitable, inclusive, and engaging education for every student. In Arlington, we are committed to providing an education that allows all students to achieve their full potential, be prepared for higher education, successful careers, active citizenship, and lifelong learning.
As your new Superintendent of Schools, I will be spending my first year doing a lot of listening while also working with our teams to plan for and address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on student learning. I believe that the complex work of educating students cannot happen without the partnership of families and community. I will be asking families to provide feedback on the work of the school system and to collaborate with me, our leaders, and our teachers as we imagine, plan for, and implement the next chapter for our Public Schools in Arlington.
In addition to our open invitation for families to join their school PTOs and School Councils or to volunteer in our schools and programs, I invite you to review my Entry Plan [Japanese / Chinese / Spanish / Portuguese]. The activities articulated in this plan are focused on hearing from all stakeholders and will occupy much of my time in my first year as Superintendent. You are also welcome to watch this short introductory video [Japanese / Chinese / Spanish / Portuguese] which will tell you a little more about me, my approach to leading the public schools, and my entry process.
Be on the lookout for opportunities to engage throughout the school year, and thank you for being a valued member of our school and town community. I look forward to meeting many of you in the days and years to come.
