Restraint Prevention and Support

Arlington Public Schools is committed to providing safe and supportive learning environments for all students. Our staff focus on prevention, de-escalation, and positive behavioral supports to help students manage emotions and resolve conflicts safely.

In rare situations, a student’s behavior may create an immediate safety concern. In those cases, trained staff may need to use physical restraint to prevent injury. Arlington Public Schools follows the requirements set by Massachusetts regulations 603 CMR 46.00, which govern the use of physical restraint in schools.
