The Arlington Human Rights Commission invites the community to “Re-Examining Our Roots: The Declaration of Independence at 250,” an engaging evening of learning, reflection, and dialogue on the document’s meaning today.
Michael Kozuch, K–12 Director of Social Studies and History for Arlington Public Schools, will provide historical context and explore the Declaration’s enduring significance. Participants will then join small group discussions to consider its key ideas and how they resonate in our current moment.
The program will conclude with remarks from Howard Winkler, former President of the Arlington Historical Society, highlighting the legacy of abolitionist Prince Hall and his argument that the Declaration’s promise of equality applies to all.
Join us May 28, 7-9 p.m., at Arlington High School. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. Register HERE.
