On March 21, 2024, APS community members were invited to attend an informational Zoom session to learn more and ask questions about the district's new literacy curriculum that will be used in all Kindergarten through fifth-grade classrooms next school year. This session was led by the team of Literacy Coaches who have supported this curriculum pilot during the 2023-2024 school year.
EL Education is based on the Science of Reading and integrates phonics and opportunities for students to engage more deeply with the content they are learning. The curriculum is structured to empower all students to read more complex grade-level texts and to master literacy standards.
