Hello APS Families,
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the whole child, we continue to focus on students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) and overall well-being. This fall, our district will administer a survey designed to help us better understand how students are feeling, how they’re developing key life skills, and how we can better support them both academically and personally.
Between October 19 and November 23, schools will administer the Panorama SEL & Well-Being survey to all students in grades 3-12. We use the data from this survey to assess students’ social-emotional competencies and sense of well-being. This survey will collect student-specific data regarding social-emotional competencies and markers of well-being, such as the prevalence of positive and negative feelings and coping strategies. This survey will help us develop a social-emotional learning profile for students to understand their strengths, areas for personal growth in these essential competencies, and where additional interventions may be needed to support that growth. The Panorama Student SEL & Well-Being Survey is NOT anonymous. Building leaders and school based social workers and counselors will be the only staff with access to the student data in the Panorama platform.
Opt-Out and Additional Information
The survey opt-out for students is available for families on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you do not have an account or need assistance logging in, please contact your child’s school. This page on our district website has a list of staff members at each building to contact.
Once logged onto the portal, please follow these instructions to complete the opt-out form.
You may have already updated survey permissions when updating your back to school form. If not, please complete the opt-out form by Tuesday, October 13 if you prefer your student not participate in either survey. If you have previously opted out your student, you will not need to do this again.
Please find a copy of the SEL & Well-Being surveys for grades 3-5 and 6-12. Please note that questions for 2026 are the same as the 2024 examples provided. This survey will take approximately 8-12 minutes. FAQ can be found here.
We appreciate your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Margaret Credle Thomas at [email protected] or Magali Olander at [email protected]
Sincerely,
Dr. Elizabeth C. Homan
