KINDERGARTEN - GRADE 5 STUDENT REGISTRATION

All Arlington Public Schools registration is completed online.

Registration is not completed until all required fields and documents are submitted

Who needs to register?

Students currently enrolled in Menotomy Preschool that are entering Kindergarten need to re-register.
Kindergarten: Students must be 5 years old on or before August 31 of the enrolling school year.
Grade 1: Students must be 6 years old on or before August 31 of the enrolling school year.

Who does NOT need to register?

Students currently enrolled in grades K-12 do not need to re-register.

Step 2: Gather required documents

Parent(s)/guardian(s) must upload all required documents for each new student enrolling in Arlington Public Schools. It is recommended to gather the necessary documents before beginning the online registration process.

Check the Student Registration Checklist for details on the required documents for enrollment.

We ask that all documents be fully translated into English. Translations should be completed by a professional translator before submitting the online registration.

Step 3 : Complete Online Registration

New Family:
If you are new to Arlington Public Schools, you will need to create an account on the PowerSchool Enrollment Portal (select "Create Account" to begin) to access the online registration forms. The account you create will be used throughout your student’s time at Arlington Public Schools.

Existing Families:
If you already have a PowerSchool Enrollment Portal account, please sign in using your existing username and password to complete the registration for your new student.

Step 4 : District Review, School Assignment, and Receive Approval Letter (Welcome Letter)

Step 5 : Orientation & Screening

For Kindergarten students:

Kindergarten orientation and screening for all families will be held at all elementary schools from late May through June.

Families enrolling mid-year should follow the schedule and instructions provided by their assigned school.

For Grade 1 - 5 students:

School tour schedules vary by school. Please follow the communication provided directly by your assigned school.

What is a Buffer Zone?

A yellow house in between two schools - "school a" and "school b"

A Buffer Zone is an area where a home address falls within the shared boundary of two schools.

If your address is located in a Buffer Zone, your student may have more than one possible school assignment.

After registration, the district reviews enrollment trends, available space, and other relevant factors to determine placement.

The Superintendent makes the final school assignment decision to ensure balanced class sizes and to place each student in the school that is the best fit for their educational experience.
